IEEE: PUBLIC OUI AND 'COMPANY_ID' ASSIGNMENTS IEEE Registration Authority. Search engine for the Public OUI/'company_id' Listing. A Media Access Control address ( MAC address ) is a unique identifier assigned to network interfaces. A MAC address is composed by 48 bits, a concatenation of either a 24-bit Organizationally Unique Identifier ( OUI ) value administered by the IEEE Registration Authority ( IEEE-RA ) and a 24-bit extension identifier assigned by the organization with that OUI assignment. This database is the one world-wide source of registered OUIs. If your NIC card address was 48-D8-FE-23-45-67, for example, the first 24 bits, 48-D8-FE, would identify the ClarIDy Solutions company, Inc., 7F, No.9, ParkAvenue II Rd., Hsinchu Science Park, Hsinchu 300, TAIWAN, REPUBLIC OF CHINA. MAC addresses are used by the Ethernet networking protocol.
